Hourglass Drops

"I am interested in expressing myself through sound. I like to paint with sound the same way that I do with paint or some other medium. Most of my works are fully improvised. When I create music I want to take people on a strange journey through time and space and lead them to places they did not know they existed. There are endless options and I like to explore every corner of sound itself."

One Thousand Pilots

Harsh Noise, industrial, landscapes, sometimes drones. One Thousand Pilots was discovered in 1997 while I was walking over an isolated place near Semipalatinsk (Kazhakstan): This place was formerly a huge "nuclear test field" during the soviet era, now full of isolated, tumbledown buildings, and towers in the middle of the steppe. Some inhabitants of the cities near to the zone, tell me about that there, in the isolated test fields, and during the last 30 years people have listened legends about the "The thousand pilots", a supposed kind of group or subhuman society living hidden and secretly in the underground and that got the ability to produce dreadful and frightening "sounds" to communicate, just using amplification of their contaminated throats...and brains. Near Semipalatinsk, in a isolated building, I found some reel tapes with just one label in the case "One Thousand Pilots". I can't say much more about this...

otolathe

K. Paul has evolved a strange aesthetic over the past few years, based on an extremely restless conception that music should take risks and fail sometimes. "Experimental" music should be just that: an unpredictable adventure that does not respect the restraints of genre. Otherwise, why not play cover tunes? So saying, no two OTOLATHE shows are ever the same. Compositions are based more on the array of possible options, rather than variations on existing musical syntax. Whatever that means. Since it is K. Paul who is actually writing this copy in a third-person manner, he quite naturally is getting bored with trying to explain the nonverbal ideas he habitually expresses using sound and noise. In fact, he has been noted in the past to characterize others' writings about music in pungent terms, summarizing it as pretentious drivel. If you are reading this far, you may as well just download something.
