Exciting times at VNN! Our very first CD-R release has been shipped to headquarters and should be here in a week or two. The release is Hourglass Drops - Return of the Butterfly Children and is available on limited edition of 30 hand numbers LightScribe CD-Rs. I'm not sure what the price will be yet, but I'm thinking around 6 bucks US or 5 Euros for international folks. Those prices would reflect postage mind you (hence the international price being a bit higher). We will see though :)
2008.04.03 // Open Source Video Editing
So I'm still in the middle of editing the video of my first noise show. I try to keep my life and my software usage as open source as possible, but video editing seems to be a beast under Linux. I've tried a small handful of apps with no real luck this far. Hopefully I'll get it straight soon else I'm going to release the high quality recording and the low quality video as is, instead of my intent which was to release the high quality audio in FLAC and the low quality video (it was taken on a cell phone) with the high quality audio overlaid. Oh well, it will get done soon enough!
2008.03.31 // Hourglass Drops joins VNN
Very Nice Noise would like to welcome our latest addition to the label, Hourglass Drops. And to celebrate the occasion, we have a new release for you to enjoy. "Return of the Butterfly Children" is an action packed release with a lot of twists and turns. There are moments of atmospheric bliss, chaotic harsh noise and even obscure beat driven electro. You won't get bored listening to this one, I promise. In addition to the netlabel release, RoTBC is going to soon be offered in CD-R format. This is a VNN first!
2008.03.25 // No Escaping Oneself
The latest Very Nice Noise release of Insecticide Lobotomy's No Escaping Oneself is now available. This is a re-release of the version released last year on Noise-Joy. Noise-Joy has had a lot of their downloads offline for a few months now, and I felt it was only fair to release on my own imprint. Just to differentiate from the original, this version is released with high resolution cover art and it's offered in FLAC as well as MP3 and OGG. Download it today!
2008.03.23 // Up and Coming
So it's been one hell of a week this past one. The band I played bass in (Wasted Talent) finally dissolved after a show Friday night. Last night I got the opportunity to throw down some no-input mixer on some unsuspecting folks at a St. Petersburg Noise Institute noise show. The show featured M31, Microwave Windows and The Adjective Noun (they performed together, but it wasn't really a versus set), Duet for Theramin and Lap Steel and the ever so entertaining Good Noise Bad Noise from the UK. My set was recorded and will be possibly be released in the near future. Speaking of releases, figured now is a good time for me to release some Insecticide Lobotomy on Very Nice Noise. Queued up currently would be some live material (one set from 2007 and two sets from 2008). Also collecting some dust would be my first ever release "No Escaping Oneself" which was originally released on Noise-Joy (all of their downloads have been offline for a while now... and well, I want people to have open access to my creations). I have been in contact with some other talented noisicians and they are in the process of working on new material for VNN, once that ball's officially rolling I'll start some name dropping.
